For all of you indecisive LA diners...you're welcome.
So I decided to put together a list of my personal favorite restaurants in LA based on the following criteria: quality of food, price and experience factor.
(in no particular order)
MEXICAN FOOD: El Compadre - Hollywood - ok so this place has the best margaritas and they have a live ranchero band that plays so you kind of feel like you're in Mexico for a hot second.
ETHIOPIAN FOOD: Messob - Fairfax - you can sit in these traditional huts while u eat with your hands. I recommend my personal favorite, Doro tibs or quanta fir fir.
PERUVIAN FOOD: Los Balcones del Peru - Hollywood - if you haven't tried peruvian food you are missing out. TRY IT. End of story. Ambience is ehhh but the food is GREAT. Try the Lomo Saltado.
RANDOM FOOD: Luna Park - Mid Wilshire - try the goat cheese fondue and the pizza is excelente. Ambience is dope but make sure you get reservations. They even have trippy original paintings that look awesome after two or three cocktails.
HEALTHY FOOD: Bloom - Mid City - Smoothies, cucumber water, turkey burgers, wraps and the best french fries if you are tired of your diet.
GREEK FOOD: Papa Cristo - Near Downtown - Greek salad is my favorite with a lamb and chicken skewer...with some yogurt. (salivating)
JAPANESE FOOD: Shabu Shabu Yaaaaa - - Hollywood/Highland - Novel Concept: Pay to cook your own food! j/k It's a good restaurant. Trust me.
SOUL FOOD: Philips BBQ - Leimert or Adams - Hot links, short ribs and "cone bread wit a lil bit a gray-veh".
PERSIAN FOOD: Pars Persian Cuisine - LAX - Not the best location OR ambience but the best persian food in LA in my experience (and i've been to quite a few spots)....but if you're looking for ambience then go to Shah Abbas (la cienega/san vicente).
BREAKFAST FOOD: Cafe Verona - La Brea/2nd - Think sunday morning brunch. I get the turkey sausage, and either an omelette or the french toast. Sooo good.
Again, you're ALLLLL welcome!

This only adds to me hating V-day!

Ok, so let me preface this by saying I should have paid off my parking tickets a long time ago. With that said, about a week and a half ago I did pay them off thru the DMV, got the updated registration and all that. I wake up on Valentines Day..its a sunny day, nice and all..bout ready to get my day started and I walk out to my car in the process of being BOOTED! You should have seen the horror in my eyes but I thought my smooth talking would get out of it. WRONG. Even after I showed her proof that the tickets were paid off she said, "well my system shows different and since I already started it my supervisor said I have to finish the job." And since Monday is presidents day I have to wait till Tuesday to get this stupid boot off my car. Unbelievable...you couldn't write this type of bad luck.

Costa Rica, Doug, bifocals and bungee jumping.
Ok, so several years ago I studied abroad in Costa Rica. We got a group together to go bunjee jumping off of this old, rusty bridge. It was a gloomy day and very wet. I went first and yes it was very scary, but I'd do it again. Eventually its my boy Doug's turn to jump. So he says, "hold my bifocals dogg, I'll be back." He steps up to the plank and because he's SOOOO blind he can't figure out where the edge of the plank is. We start counting down and he gets nervous and when the count hits zero he jumped straight up, slips on the plank WELL before the edge and hits his shins. We were cracking up laughing and I just so happened to catch it on film. Ahhh good times.

LSAT Question so you empathize with what I'm going thru!
Fossilized bones from the hominids Australopithecus robustus and Homo erectus were chemically analyzed. The robustus bones contained a lower ratio of strontium to calcium than did the erectus bones. The lower the ratio of strontium to calcium in fossilized hominid bones, the more meat the hominid had in its diet. H. erectus is known to have eaten meat.
The statements above, if true, most strongly support which of the following?
A.) The diet of A. robustus included at least some meat.
B.) The meat in the diet of H. erectus was higher in strontium than was the meat in the diets of other hominids.
C.) The diet of H. erectus was richer in calcium than was the diet of A. robustus.
D.) The diets of A. robustus and H. erectus both contained less strontium than calcium.
E.) The process of fossilization altered the ratio of strontium to calcium in the bones of both A. robustus and H. erectus.
(You have 90 seconds to answer this correctly)

-Introducing $tray Money-
We found him on Melrose and Western and took him in. He's a good dog but he has his moments like when I mess with him while he's eating.

Ehhh not a good day...
BUT this did make me smile though. It's always so much sweeter to laugh at the misfortunes of others.

False Religion Jeans (and why I won't wear them)

Regardless of the fact that I can't afford them, EVEN IF I was ballin out of control I still would not wear True Religion jeans and here's why:
The True Religion logo is literally a brand on your backside that identifies you as a certain type. This type is a typical LA/Hollywood dude who enjoys going to places where he can see and be seen. He throws on his TR jeans and feels confident that people will acknowledge the "prestige" that goes along with this look.
Secondly, True Religion should be paying me to advertise for them rather than me paying $250 for them. Now don't get me wrong, there's a huge difference between 50 dollar jeans and 150 dollar jeans and I'm not knockin people who buy them, but spending upwards of 250 bucks to advertise a wack lifestyle for an overhyped company is ridiculous.
u dont see this everyday!

Ok so this is a pic of me and my friend Bahi who like me is half african american and half iranian. We've been friends since 2000 and met on Blackplanet (on BLAST alert: if you had a blackplanet page at one point you are probably in your late 20's/early 30's.)
My father is iranian and my mother is african american but for her its the other way around. Either way, it's a VERY unique mix particularly because of the extreme cultural differences. Bahi speaks fluent farsi, which is DOPE! She's been back to Iran and spoke with family and all that. I'm about to learn farsi for that reason...and also so I can confuse the persian waiters in westwood when I order my ghormeh sabzi.
Khodafes.

It ain't Kraft but definitely a Cool Whip.

The Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept Car is created by Lorus Kulesus and it is meant to last for a century. The name of the 90th element – thorium – in the title of the design proposal is no coincident.
Kulesus sees the element acting as a nuclear fuel so the batteries powering the car can rely on an almost infinite source of energy. The fact that World Thorium Concept adds up as WTF is at the same time humorous and exact: it is a little bit far-fetched, but a futuristic concept has to be.
The wheels of the WTF don’t have individual tires. Each wheel is made up of six thin wheels so in case of a failure in some of them the thorium-powered futurist can keep on moving.
All the 24 wheels in total have their own induction motor. Kulesus explained to Coroflot: “The vehicle would require the tires to be adjusted every five years, but no material would need to be added or subtracted.”
**I think I'll start saving up for this**
Not in a hurry to have kids!
Which is not to say I don't love kids. Far from the truth. I love them, from a distance and without my genes. This is a clip from a recent family getogether (can anyone find out if this is a real word for me? thanks) and includes a bunch of kids wreaking havoc in my cousins mancave.
I'd like to welcome myself to this blog.
